The Harris Center has a 24/7 crisis hotline with dozens of staff onsite. They may transfer calls to 911, or initiate a 911 call themselves. The phone counselors can maintain contact to assist individuals for up to 90 days while they are transferred to services. The hotline served just under 40,000 individuals across Harris County in 2017. Every state Licensed Mental Health Agency (LMHA) must have crisis line capacity. There were about 140,000 calls across the lines in Harris County in 2017.
